Places

Conceptually, I'm fond of Europe, where I spent my most formative years growing up. Of course, even this experience was tempered by an American bubble.

Europe

Having spent lots of (but not enough!) quality time skiing, hiking, and biking in the friendly fields and valleys, I have a hard time not favoring places in and around the Alps, notably Bavaria and Tirol. I'm really jonesing to get back; there is still so much to see, and the lifestyle is, well, sublime.

The Americas

Austin is a beautiful city, but lacks the tall trees of the coasts. At some point, I'll need to spend more time (up to six months a year) in the land of tall trees, either somewhere between Portland and Seattle or between Rochester and Boston.

I would like to spend a six to nine month period in Argentina or Chile.

I could spend a few months a year in the Finger Lakes region of New York or in New England.

I don't expect I'll ever end up in the Baltimore / Washington area. It's too wrapped up in its own hegemony, and is way too overpriced for all the suburban sprawl...

Oceania

At some point, I'd like to try living in New Zealand, either in Wellington or Christchurch for maybe a year or two. I think I could also hack it in Melbourne. Sydney seems super expensive and high on itself, and the rest of Australia is probably best left in the places to visit category.
