I like to think of myself as timeless. Sadly this often manifests as me not having a sense of time, and a lack of a desire to sleep. But I can pretend that I'm timeless... for awhile...
After many visits of National Parks and their state and local equivalents, and after reading the works of Emerson and Whitman (Thoreau to a lesser extent), I have some to see myself as an American Transcendentalist.
Kristin and I have also joked that we're Neo-Lutheran Pagans, due to our near-worshipping appreciation for rocks, trees, and just about anything from Nature, as well as our adoration for Advent and understated Christianity.
I work in Science, but prefer Art. I can't yet figure out whether I'm an artsy scientist or a scientifically-minded artist. Maybe I'm neither, falling in the inverspace between the two. I do distinctly remember from my undergraduate days feeling like when I hung out with the computer scientists that I couldn't help thinking about poetry and when I spent time in the English Department that I couldn't help taking mathematical perspectives into account. I suppose in a way this is the worst of both worlds. Or maybe it's the best. Who knows.
